Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have intervened to prevent a farmers-herders clash over alleged farmland encroachment in Rewienku Village, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 2:15 p.m. on November 3, 2026, following a report of a confrontation involving farmers and herders over alleged encroachment on farmland belonging to Mrs Esther Sunday and Mr Sunday Danjuma.

The sources said troops of Sector 3, OPEP, mobilised to the area but came under fire from suspected armed Fulani militia members reportedly hiding among rocks around Katome.

The suspected attackers reportedly fled towards Kissado community with their cattle as troops advanced and carried out further security checks in the area.

Two people, identified as a farmer, Mr John Danjuma, and a herder, Mr Ibrahim Waziri, sustained injuries during the incident.
The victims were evacuated to Enos Hospital, Miango, and 3 DMSH, respectively, for medical attention.

Troops subsequently dominated the general area to prevent further escalation and possible reprisal attacks.
