Troops of the Nigerian Army have responded to reports of suspected terrorists activities in parts of Sokoto State.

Sources disclosed that troops of 8 Division Garrison deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gandi were mobilised at about 11:15 a.m. on May 5 following intelligence reports on terrorists activities at Dankalmawan and Kurukuru villages.

The sources said the troops swiftly moved to the affected communities and conducted clearance operations in the general area.

According to the sources, no contact was made with the suspected terrorists as they fled before the arrival of troops.

“Troops responded promptly to the information and dominated the area to deny the criminals freedom of action,” the sources said.

The military added that surveillance and patrols had been intensified in the affected communities and adjoining areas to forestall further threats.

The sources reaffirmed the commitment of security forces to sustaining offensive and clearance operations against terrorists and other criminal elements across the North-West region.
