Troops intercept gunrunner in Niger, recover 18 locally made guns

Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation FANSAN YAMMAN have intercepted a suspected gunrunner in Kampany Mailafia, Niger State.

Sources told Zagazola that the suspect, Lawal Mohammed, 35, from Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara, was arrested while waiting for transport to Gusau.

“Items recovered from him include 18 locally made guns, one torchlight, a travelling bag, a bottle of perfume, four pairs of clothes and ₦45,200,” the source said.

He added that the suspect is in custody for further investigation.
