Troops intercept massive logistics supplies for terrorists in Yobe

Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North East, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have intercepted a large cache of logistics supplies intended for terrorists in the North East.

The Theatre Command, in a statement on Thursday, said the breakthrough was recorded on Sept. 16 during counter-terrorism operations under Operation Desert Sanity IV.

It stated that troops, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted a red 14-tyre trailer laden with suspicious consignments along the Nguru–Gashua road in Yobe at about 7:40 a.m.

“The vehicle was later moved to a secured location and carefully offloaded. On inspection at about 9:00 p.m. same day, troops discovered 700 bags of NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer used in making IEDs, 27 cartons of assorted drugs, and nine cartons of normal saline solution, all concealed beneath bundles of fabric materials,” the statement said.

It added that the consignment was billed for onward movement to Niger Republic, indicating cross-border supply networks sustaining terrorist groups.

The command also confirmed that earlier on the same day, at about 10:30 a.m., troops on the same axis intercepted two Sharon vehicles and another trailer carrying large quantities of fabrics and solar panels.

Intelligence reports suggested that the fabrics were meant for sewing uniforms for terrorist fighters.

“All drivers, motor boys, and the recovered items are in custody, pending further investigation and the arrest of identified consignees and consignors,” the statement said.

The Theatre Command reassured that troops remain vigilant and committed to cutting off all terrorist supply chains in the region, while urging members of the public to continue providing timely information to aid operations.

It added that the Military High Command had commended the troops for their impressive operational performance.
