An advanced convoy team of Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum successfully repelled an attempted Boko Haram attack along the Buni Gari-Buni Yadi road, neutralizing an unconfirmed number of terrorists and rescuing seven kidnapped passengers.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the convoy, which included troops of Operation Hadin Kai, the Police Crack Team, and top government officials, was returning from Biu Local Government Area when they intercepted terrorists attempting to abduct travelers from a Golf car.
Governor Zulum, who had earlier traveled by helicopter, was not in the convoy at the time of the attack.
Upon sighting the attack, the gallant troops and security personnel engaged the insurgents in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to abandon the kidnapped victims and attempt to flee.
The security forces continued their pursuit, neutralizing several terrorists and recovering weapons and motorcycles.
Despite the intense confrontation, all personnel in the convoy emerged unscathed, and the seven passengers were successfully rescued.
The swift response of the security forces once again showcased the effectiveness and bravery of the troops.
