Troops repel Boko Haram attack in Banki, Borno

The Nigerian Army troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled a coordinated attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Banki, Bama Local Government Area of the state.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack occurred at about 1:17 a.m. on Saturday, when the insurgents launched simultaneous assaults on the Amchide Military Base, Banki Divisional Police Headquarters, as well as the Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria Customs Service control posts in the area.
According to the sources, the joint security forces swiftly engaged the terrorists, forcing them to retreat after a fierce exchange of gunfire.
One police constable, Abubakar Ibrahim, attached to 9 PMF on special duty in Banki, sustained a leg injury from a sharp object during the encounter. He was evacuated to the FHI 360 NGO clinic for treatment and has since been discharged.
Sources said that the troops have been placed on heightened alert to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents.
