Troops Rescue 5 Kidnapped Victims, Foil Bandit Attacks in Katsina

Security forces in Katsina State have successfully rescued five kidnapped victims and foiled multiple bandit attacks across the state.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that at about 5:30 a.m. on March 23, 2025, armed bandits invaded Kutungubus Village in Kankara Local Government Area, abducting an unconfirmed number of persons.
In response, joint troops comprising the army tools, police and local vigilantes to block the bandits’ escape route at Mararaba Gurbi.
A heavy gun battle ensued, forcing the bandits to retreat. As a result, security operatives successfully rescued five victims: Lamunde Musa, Nafisa Isa, Umma Tanimu,Hauwau Sani and Halisa Sani.
The bandits escaped with Ayuba Ibrahim, Fariza Harisu and Guje Salihu.
Similarly, at about 10:30 p.m. on the same day, a gang of armed bandits launched an attack on Dungum Sambo Village in Dandume Local Government Area.
The troops swiftly mobilized to the scene.A fierce gun duel ensued, forcing the bandits to flee into the bush with varying degrees of bullet wounds.
In their haste, they abandoned stolen valuables. Security forces have intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing criminals.
In another attack, at around 11:43 p.m., armed bandits blocked the Sabuwa-Kaya Road near Kwana Uku, targeting travelers. Upon receiving the distress call, a police team stormed the scene.
The bandits, upon sighting the security operatives, opened fire and injured a 27-year-old man identified as Bello from Layin Dan Auta village in Birnin Gwari LGA, Kaduna State, before fleeing the scene.
The victim was rushed to Haske Private Hospital in Sabuwa for treatment.
