The Nigerian Army says troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA (OPFY) rescued five kidnapped victims in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Sources confirmed to Zagazola Makama saying the incident occurred on Sept. 7 at Gidan Kwairo village.

The sources said that the troops of 17 Brigade, in collaboration with vigilantes and Keystone operatives, engaged terrorists who had invaded the village.

“The terrorists were forced to abandon five kidnapped victims. Sadly, one local was killed by the attackers, while another sustained gunshot injuries.

The injured victim was evacuated to Malumfashi General Hospital for treatment,”said the sources.

The sources reaffirmed Army’s commitment to sustained operations to protect communities in the North-West region.
