Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued two kidnapped female victims during coordinated clearance operations against terrorist and bandit enclaves in Bukkuyum and Anka Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
The operation, led by the Acting Commander of 1 Brigade, Col. J. Umaru, targeted suspected terrorist hideouts around the Gizaza axis and Gando Forest, as part of efforts to disrupt criminal networks, secure major transportation corridors and restore confidence among residents.
Security sources said the troops conducted clearance operations across Guruso, Nassarawa, Barayazaki, Masama Mudi, Tunganyara and Gwashi communities.
The advancing troops reportedly forced the terrorists to flee their hideouts in disarray, while the military continued to clear the affected areas.
During the operation along the Gando Forest corridor, the troops located and rescued two abducted women identified as Ikilima Sani, 20, and Shamsiyya Aliyu, 18.
The rescued victims were secured by the troops following their discovery.
The military said troops had continued to maintain strategic dominance over key transit routes and suspected criminal corridors through aggressive patrols to prevent further attacks and enable residents and commuters to carry out their lawful activities safely.
