Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have successfully rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered rustled livestock in Rabah and Tureta Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.
Zagazola learnt that the operations were carried out in joint efforts with state security agencies and local hunters.
In Tafara village, Rabah LGA, troops engaged terrorists, forcing them to retreat towards the Sububu Forest. Two kidnapped victims were rescued in the process.
Similarly, troops deployed at Tureta, in collaboration with Sokoto State Community Guard Corps, foiled a large-scale rustling operation at the outskirts of Bimasa village.
The terrorists, who had carted away 56 cattle and 38 goats, fled under heavy fire, abandoning the livestock. The animals were handed back to their rightful owner, Alhaji Malami Mai Rawa.
The rescue operations come at a time when rural communities in Sokoto have raised concerns about repeated attacks on farmers during the harvest season.
