Two die, 12 injured in Katsina road accident

Two persons have been confirmed dead and 12 others injured in a road accident in Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Sources said the accident occurred on Sept. 17 at about 8:45 p.m. in Jikamshi village when a Mitsubishi Canter, with registration number TSF-243-XF, loaded with sugarcane, lost control and rammed into a public gathering.

“The driver of the vehicle, who is currently at large, lost control and collided with a public gathering, leading to multiple casualties,” the sources said.

The sources said police operatives from Musawa Division immediately moved to the scene, secured the area, and evacuated the victims to the General Hospital, Musawa.

According to the sources, two of the victims, Mustapha Umar, 38, and Mani Salisu, 34, were confirmed dead by a medical doctor, while 12 others were admitted for treatment.

It added that some victims who sustained minor injuries were treated and discharged, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing driver.
