UMTH: Zulum to build 24 houses for Doctors, gives N100m support

The Borno state governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum on Friday lays a foundation for the construction of 24 housing for medical doctors at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital in Borno state.

The governor, also presented a cheque of one hundred million naira to the hospital to cushion the cost of running such a hospital, which did not only served the state but the northeast region on general.

Governor Zulum, who had always identify with the management of the UMTH said many people may not understand the pains of running institutions such as the UMTH, adding that on his part he will continue to pray and identify with the hospital as it did not only served the people of Borno state but the northeast and Nigeria as a whole.

“We shall continue to give support in any way we can do as to ensure that our people get the services they deserve. ” Governor Zulum said.

Earlier, the Chief Medical Director, Professor Ahmed Ahidjo commended the governor for the numerous role he played in supporting the hospital.

He recalled that during the Covid-19 experience the Borno state government is the first to give support to the hospital in a move to cushioning the effect of the covid-19 cases.

“Many times when the governor show up he is always the first to ask about the challenges we are facing before we even start to mention them. He has supported us with twenty million naira during the Covid-19 pendemic and today he is here to take the burden of having a building to house our doctors.

” We really appreciated the governor for his foresight and continuing support to our hospital as this goes to show the kind of a leader we have in him. We shall continue to commend and support him in all his undertaking.” Professor Ahidjo said.
