The Nigerian Airforce has come a long way as part of the Nigerian Armed Forces (1964 – 2022) in defending the territorial air space of our great country Nigeria. The military organization as a whole is working day and night to perfect her art / skills in all she finds herself in the defence of the country. Similarly, everything about the Nigerian Airforce is excellent and commendable.
Recently, I took a look at the Air Force Girls Military School in Jos to get an informed idea on the differences being made under Wing Commander Gbadebo.
Looking at Nigerian Airforce Schools generally, Airforce Girls Military School (AFGMS) Jos is one among her good schools according to parents, teachers and the host community in Angwa Chamba and Jos as a whole.

But can anything be good without an enabling environment, space and time provided and supported by the mother organization for the Girls Military School to perform and excel? The answer could certainly be said to be No.
The Nigerian Airforce high command under the able command and leadership of The Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshall Oladayo Amao is to be greatly commended for providing the suitable atmosphere including facilities for the present Commandant of the school, Wing Commander Idowu Folashade Gbadebo to continue to succeed in her administration as Commandant of the Airforce Girls Military School (AFGMS) Jos .
The Airforce Directorate of Education is also to be acknowledged. When Celine Dion sang the song “A New Day Has Come” little did she know that Wing Commander Folashade Gbadebo would usher in a new day for this military institution of learning.
In fact, a new day is being experienced in Airforce Girls Military School Jos in terms of academic discipline and parents / teachers relationship through the PTA including the host community Angwan Chamba. This has made the school conducive for teaching and learning. Students are always ready for any academic work. Wing Commander Gbadebo has ensured that academic and non-academic staff is at their desk or place of duty at all times.
“My daughter is a student in this school, I have seen her good performance in character and in learning and am encouraged and proud of this school and The Nigerian Airforce, ” a parent, Mr. Elisha said.
According to Mr. Simpson Elisha “I have seen changes in my daughter. She is now respectful, disciplined and hardworking “.
Also an elder in the host community, said that parents living in the community have their children attending the school and the reports they gave about the school is that their daughters are happy and commending the Commandant.
Officer Folashade came to Airforce Girls Military School Jos in 2018 when the school was faced with challenges of admission. It was however revealed that staff were negligent of duty and discipline was thrown to the dogs.
Wing Commander Idowu stewardship gave a new lease of life to the school and this saw parents becoming more interested in the affairs of the school attracting more within and around Nigeria seeking admission for their wards to attend this school where young girls are trained in their chosen academic pursuit.
