Yobe CAN Honours Gov. Buni with the “Inclusive Governance” Award

The Christain Association of Nigeria (CAN) Yobe state Council has awarded Governor Mai Mala Buni with the “Inclusive Governance” award for his administration fairness to all ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds.

Yobe state CAN Chairman, Bishop Yohanna Audu, and leaders of the association presented the award to the governor on Tuesday during a christmas homage to him at the Government House, Damaturu.

“You won this prestigious award because of your style of leadership that carries everybody along irrespective of tribe, region, or religion,” Audu said.

The association commended Governor Buni for appointing people from all faiths and ethnic backgrounds into his administration.

It also commended the governor for his commitment to peace and peaceful coexistence in the state where adherents of the various religions coexist peacefully with love and trust.

The association, said in preparation for Christmas, it organised a unity carol with participants from the six North Eastern states at a time when the Muslims were having the National Quranic recitation competition.

“This is a clear demonstration of the peace, trust, and tolerance we have in the state under your able leadership,” the association informed Buni.

It also lauded the Yobe state government for providing bulls during festivals, palliative to the less privileged, awards of scholarship for foreign students, and allocation of slots for pilgrimage to its members.

Responding, Buni assured the association of more opportunities to all persons irrespective of religion, ethnic or cultural backgrounds.

He said the responsibility of building a peaceful society rests on everyone, urging the religious leaders to always preach peace among their followers.

“We thank God for the stable peace we now enjoy across the state, and we all have roles to play in improving the relative peace enjoyed,” Buni emphasized.

He said the award given to him by the association would propel him to do more in supporting and carrying everyone along “its an award l will live to value it.”

Armed Bandits Attack Maikwama Village in Katsina, Four Killed

A violent attack by armed bandits occurred in Maikwama Village, Dandume Local Government Area, Katsina State, on the night of April 5, 2025.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the assailants, riding on motorcycles, stormed the village around 2305hrs, initiating a ruthless attack on the residents.

The security forces engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, forcing the attackers to retreat. However, the attack left four people dead, and two others sustained bullet wounds.

The injured victims have been taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Authorities are intensifying efforts to apprehend the bandits responsible for this tragic attack.

Two Men Killed by Angry Mob in Sandamu, Katsina State

Tragedy struck on April 6, 2025, in Katsayal Village, Sandamu Local Government Area, as two men, Gaddafi Isah, aged 35, and Badamasi Isah, aged 30, were brutally attacked and killed by an angry mob from Yakawada Village.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the two victims had driven their father’s vehicle to the outskirts of Katsayal Village to practice driving when they were accused by the mob of stealing livestock.

In a violent response, the mob surrounded the men, beating them severely, resulting in various degrees of injury.

The victims were rescued by the security forces who were deployed to the scene and rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Sandamu for treatment, but they were later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

The vehicle the men were driving was also damaged during the altercation.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the attack.

Tensions escalated on April 6, 2025, between the residents of Doma ‘B’ and Balandawa villages in Faskari Local Government Area, resulting in a communal clash and widespread destruction of property.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the conflict began when vigilante men from Doma ‘B’ Village mobilized and accused the villagers of Balandawa of harboring armed bandits.

The vigilantes alleged that the bandits frequently use Ruwan Godiya and Balandawa villages as routes, especially following a recent peace accord between the two villages and the bandits.

In retaliation, the vigilantes attacked Balandawa Village, setting fire to huts, destroying food items, and killing or driving away livestock. The violence prompted a swift response from the Nigerian troops.

By the time security forces arrived, normalcy was restored, and the situation was brought under control. Investigations are ongoing, and efforts to gather intelligence and monitor the area are being intensified to prevent further clashes.
