Yobe: Council Boss moves to ensure his people get voters cards ahead of 2023 elections

The Executive Chairman of Nangere local government council in Yobe state, Alhaji Salisu Yarima has called on the people of his council especially youths of 18 years and above to ensure that they obtained a voting card early so that they can be able to make the difference ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Yerima said already his administration is putting a plan and would make arrangements with INEC to go and register the people ward by ward so that his people will not be left out in exercising their rights of voting the candidates of their choice.
Hon. Yerima on a chat with newsmen on Wednesday at his office in Nangere said, in the past, his people have been disenfranchised owing to a lack of knowledge and the right people to sensitize and push them on the right things and ways to do it.
“We call on political party leaders, elected councilors to enlighten the people that anybody who reaches the age of 18 years should go to INEC office to get his voters card.

“If you have your voters card at hand you have the right to vote a good person of your choice who will represent or to do you a good work, but if you don’t have a voters card, you have no right to reject anybody who they elected for you.” Salisu Yarima said.
On the recent ward congress which was conducted last week, the chairman said, it was successful in Nangere local government and they have followed the national and state headquarters of the party directive on consensus.
Salisu Yarima revealed that the council has intensified in its effort to improve the revenue generation of the council, adding that, the local government has only one market that the council is generating revenue from it.
“But we are making effort to see that we find ways to generate revenue to repair our boreholes and other activities so that we can depend on our resources without having to be waiting on state and federal government, especially when we have emergency issues at hand to deal with.
The chairman also urged the people to continue to support governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration in the state so they can have the benefit of getting the dividends of democracy as it flows.
