Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has called on the people to always take proactive measures against fire outbreaks, especially during the cold harmattan season.

The governor made the call while commiserating with Bayan Tasha fire victims in Damaturu. He described the incident as sad and unfortunate at this challenging moment of economic hardships.

“I was shocked with the sad news of the early morning fire outbreak at the Bayan Tasha market in Damaturu. Adding that, this fire incident is sad, most unfortunate, and ill-timed considering the economic hardships faced by the people.

The governor further consoled the victims as faithfuls, saying nothing happens to a believer except with the knowledge of our creator. He prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) against future occurrences and to replenish the sad loss.

He directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to take stock of the number of shops and traders affected and the estimated value of loss.

“We have had very sad experiences of fire outbreaks in the past in homes, shops, and other places of work; we should adopt measures against fire outbreaks to safeguard lives and property.” Governor Buni advised.

Governor Buni also directed the fire service department to always be on standby against possible outbreaks in view of the windy season.
