The Commissioner of the Federal Character Commission representing Yobe State, Hon. Jibrin Maigari, has urged Yobeans to give all the necessary support to our workaholic governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, for all the good things that he is doing.

Hon. Maigari, former state minister of Foreign Affairs representing Yobe state, stated this at Sabon Garin Nangere, the headquarters of the local government, while he was on a sensitization visit, as well as to present letters of federal appointments to the indigenes of the zone.

He said there are 17 roads ongoing in Yobe state. His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, is going to complete them and embark on new ones. Yobe is an agricultural state. If you open up, people can go and cultivate and settle elsewhere since we are in a post-insurgency recovery period.

“We have a lot of interventions from the federal government and national and international donors, and the government is putting the right people in the right positions to make sure that the laudable programs are implemented to the logical conclusion.” Mugari added.

He said we are here to sensitize the people of the Nangere local government on the aims and objectives of the federal character commission, adding that the commission is one of the 14th constitutionally established commissions.

“We have an office in Damaturu, which coordinates the activities in Yobe state, and we have a national headquarters at Abuja responsible for monitoring and distribution of posts and social infrastructure development within the country, Maigari said.

He revealed that the beneficiaries are categorized by category, like military and paramilitary, which are the annual events that we monitor for Yobeans, and when we were in Yobe, we monitored all the 17 local governments that are well represented, while the recruitment into MDS is based on professional qualifications, and the majority of the youth that get employment in the federal government are mostly medical and medical-related courses.

“We are focusing on youth, because youth are the backbone of the society; youth are the people who are always very active, either at the campaign venue, on the election day, or on program implementation, he said.

He urged the chairman of the Nangere local government and his councillors to consider 11 wards in the local government in the cause of employment and capital projects. Those wards that were not privileged to have in the civil service, either in the state or local government, shall be considered.
