The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Yobe state council, Comrade Mukhtar Tarbutu, has called on members and affiliates of the union to pray for the release of the National President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, who was recently invited by the Nigerian Police Force.

The chairman made the peal on Thursday in Damaturu, the state capital, while addressing a gathering of NLC members and affiliates in the state.

Tarbutu revealed that the union had received a directive from the national headquarters to mobilize members to police headquarters in their respective states in solidarity with Ajaero.

However, in Yobe State, the NLC leadership decided to adopt a spiritual approach by organizing prayers for Ajearo’s safe return. He expressed confidence that Allah would intervene and ensure the safety of the NLC president.

“In addition to the prayers, Tarbutu also announced the formation of a technical committee to review the implementation of the $70,000 minimum wage in the state.

According to him, the committee has completed its work and submitted its recommendations to the state government.

He commended the committee for its efforts and expressed hope that the government would engage with the union on the issue.
