Zulum appoints 4 Advisers, 5 Technical Assistants

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the appointment of 4 Special Advisers and 5 Senior Technical Assistants.

Zulum’s approval was conveyed to newsmen on Friday in Maiduguri in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Bukar Tijani.

The appointment comprises of 4 Special Adviser that include:

  1. Alhaji Ali Bolori
  2. Alhaji Hassan Zanna Boguma
  3. Bukar Lawan Ngamdu
  4. Alhaji Abatcha Ma’aji

and 5 Senior Technical Assistants, including:

  1. Umaru Bako
  2. Engr Mohammed Ali Zarma
  3. Bulama Gana
  4. Barr. Abdullahi Hussaini Izge
  5. Engr Emannuel Yerima Gadzama

According to the SSG, Governor Zulum, while congratulating the new appointees, expects them to bring their wealth of experience and positively impact the development of Borno State.

Zulum Reconstitutes Board for Bureau of Public Procurement

Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the reconstitution of the Board for Borno State Bureau for Public Procurement.

The decision follows the expiration of the tenure of the current chairman and board members that have served the stipulated four-year term.

In a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dauda Iliya, the governors power to reconstitute the Board is derived from Section 4(1) of the Borno State Bureau for Public Procurement and Other Related Laws.

“Following the expiration of the tenure of the Chairman and Members of the Board for Borno State Bureau for Public Procurement after serving for the statutory period of four (4) years, His Excellency, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, has reconstituted a new Board for the proper running of the Bureau,”.

The statement adds that the appointed new Board is to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Bureau.

The new board has the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development as Chairman.

IX. Mr Kingo K. Yanga (Borno South) – Member

X. Barr. Mele Waruma – (Borno North) – Member

XI. Alhaji Aliyu Kyari – (Borno North) – Member

XII. Representative of Civil Society Organizations – Member

XIII. Representative of Professional Body – Member

While the Director General Bureau for Public Procurement will serve as Secretary.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the State Assembly.

One Killed as Ebonyi Communal Clash Rekindles

The Ebonyi State Police Command says one person has been killed in renewed hostilities between Enyimagu and Ekpoamaka communities in Ikwo Local Government Area.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the decades-long crisis between the two communities, which had been dormant for some time, flared up again on Saturday evening.

The Nigerian Army troops and other security agencies were swiftly deployed to restore order.

On Sunday morning, security personnel discovered the corpse of an unidentified elderly man with multiple bullet wounds at Odumewu, Enyimagu axis.

He was said to have engaged the security forces in a gun battle before being shot dead.

The military also recovered firearms and ammunition from the deceased, believed to be a mercenary hired by one of the warring communities.

The body has been deposited at Rim Hospital Mortuary, Achara, while more security teams have been deployed for intensive patrol as the situation remains tense.

Security forces Foil Kidnap Attempt, Rescue Three Along Funtua–Gusau Road

Security forced have foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued three travellers along the Funtua–Gusau road.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that suspected armed bandits had ambushed a white Golf 3 Wagon at Marabar Bangori.

The vehicle, driven by Sadi Ahmed, with passengers Ibrahim Umar (a.k.a Dan’iya), and Babangida Yusuf, 45, all of Yankara town, was transporting tomatoes from Funtua to Yankara when the gunmen opened fire.

Security forces were swiftly mobilized which engaged the bandits in a tactical exchange of fire, forcing them to flee into the bush.

All three occupants were rescued unhurt.
