Zulum Launches 11 Billion Naira Dualization Project to Improve Major Roads in the State

Borno State, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has officially launched the dualization of major roads in the state. The ceremony took place at Shehu’s Roundabout on Wednesday 13th December 2023.

The project, which is estimated to cost 11 billion naira, is already halfway funded by the Borno State Government. It is expected to be completed within a nine-month period, demonstrating the governor’s commitment to improving infrastructure in the state.

Governor Zulum reiterated his commitment on infrastructures in the state, stating that the dualization project aims to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance the economic prospects of the state.

The Commissioner of works and Housing, Engineer Mustapha Gubio promised to ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated time frame.

The governor was supported by a distinguished entourage, including Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur, Nigeria’s Ambassador to China, Baba Ahmed Jidda, and the APC Deputy National Chairman North, Ali Bukar Dalori, APC state Party Chairman, Rt. Hon. Bello Ayuba, Several esteemed senators and members of the House of Representatives and State Assembly, Commissioner’s among others.

The dualization project will transform several important roads into wider and modern thoroughfares. Among them, the Shehu Umar Garbai/Bursari Road, connecting Shehu’s Roundabout to Songhai, will link Baga Road to the State Mechanical Workshop. Another significant road, the Shehu Sanda Kura Road, will be reconstructed from Monday Market Roundabout to Kofa Biyu through Budum Roundabout. Sultan Mai Malari Road, connecting Idrissa Khadi Junction to Sir Kashim Ibrahim Way through Budum Roundabout, will directly connect to the State Psychiatric Hospital.

The dualization project is aimed at enhancing the movement of goods, services, and people across the state.
