Armed Bandits Attack Village in Kankia LGA, Three Killed and Two Injured

On April 6, 2025, at approximately 11:30 PM, armed bandits launched an attack on Unguwar Doruwar, a village located near Kunduru in Kankia Local Government Area.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the assailants, heavily armed and on motorcycles, rustled a number of cattle and shot at villagers, killing three individuals and injuring two others.
Security forced quickly mobilized to the scene of the attack. Unfortunately, the bandits managed to flee the area before authorities could apprehend them.
The victims, who were critically wounded in the attack, were rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina for treatment. Authorities have confirmed the death of three villagers, while the condition of the injured remains under medical observation.

NSCDC personnel open fire, injure three during attempted arrest in Bauchi

Three persons were injured after personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) opened fire during an attempted arrest in Tudun Wada village, Liman-Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on May 21, 2025, when the NSCDC patrol team from Alkaleri LGA went to effect an arrest, leading to a confrontation with residents of the community.
Two victims, Hamza Sarkin Aska, and Jibrin Adamu, both of Tudun Wada village, sustained gunshot wounds on their left and right legs respectively. A 12-year-old Almajiri, Umar Rabiu, from Yola Doka village, also sustained bruises on his right leg.
Security operatives promptly responded, evacuating the injured victims to General Hospital Yuguda for medical attention. Hamza Sarkin Aska and Jibrin Adamu were admitted and are responding to treatment, while Umar Rabiu was treated and discharged.
The sources said that the Bauchi state police command has launched an investigation following the shooting incident.

Four die from suspected food poisoning in Katsina, investigation ongoing

Four persons, including three children, have died from suspected food poisoning at Kaga Hassan Quarters, Magama Jibia in Katsina State, police sources confirmed on Thursday.
The sources told Zagazola Makama that the victims were Hussaina Ayuba, Ahmed Ayuba, and Nana Ayuba, who died while receiving treatment at Jibia General Hospital after allegedly consuming poisoned food.
A fourth victim, Hafsat Ayuba, 12, is currently recuperating and still under medical care.
The sources disclosed that a 20-year-old woman, Fatima Abdulkadir, who prepared the spaghetti noodles allegedly consumed by the victims, along with two others, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The scene of the incident was visited by security personnel while those who died were released to their relatives for burial according to Islamic rites.

The Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Yobe State chapter, has elected its executives to run the affairs of the chapel for three years.
The elections were conducted peacefully, freely, and fairly, and those who were elected are Alhaji Ahmed Isah Abba of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as chairman, Mr. Musa Buba Mingyi of Channel TV as vice chairman, and Sa’adatu Maina of Neptune Prime as treasurer; all of them were elected unopposed. While Habibu Gimba Idris of Daily Trust emerged as a secretary.
In his acceptance shortly after the election, Alhaji Ahmed Abba extended his heartfelt gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting us the opportunity to witness this important and historic moment. It is only by his divine grace that we are here today, and to him alone belongs all praise.
He thanks the electoral committee for the remarkable dedication and sacrifice you demonstrated throughout the election process. Your commitment to due process and transparency is highly commendable.

He uses this medium to express our appreciation to the government of Yobe State under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, Chiroman Gujba, for the numerous developmental projects executed across the state.
Ahmed Isah also expressed his gratitude to the Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Information, Home Affairs, and Culture, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, and the Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the governor, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, for their support.
