BORNO STATE GOVERNOR’S DELEGATION VISITS FIKA EMIRATE COUNCIL POTISKUM

Borno State Government has sent a delegation to Potiskum to condole the Emir of Fika Alhaji Muhammadu Abali ibn Mohammed Idriss over the demise of Dr Adamu Fika GCON (Wazirin Fika).

The delegation led by His Excellency the Deputy Governor of Borno State Umar Usman Kadafur were received at the Emir’s Palace in Potiskum by Alhaji Mohammad Dagula Masayan Fika where special prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of Dr Adamu Fika, a Former Federal Head of service.

The Deputy Governor of Borno State said the delegation is on the visit to convey the heartfelt sympathy of the Borno State Government to the government, fika Emirate and people of Yobe State.

The delegation prayed for God Almighty to grant the deceased eternal rest and give Yobe State Government and Fika Emirate the courage and fortitude to bear the great lost.

Alhaji Mohammed Dagula Masaya Fika who received the delegation on behalf of the Emir of Fika expressed gratitude to Borno State for sending a delegation to condole them and prayed for God Almighty to reward them abundantly and wished them to return back home safely.

The Deputy Governor was accompanied by Former deputy governor H.E Alh. Abubakar Jatau, Hon. Members representing Biu and Kukawa, Hon. Commissioner of Intergovernmental affairs Hon. Tukur Ibrahim Shani, former Commissioner of Health and Human Services Dr. Kwayabura, deputy chief of staff, Alh. Tahir Kadafur, Alh Mohammed Birma pinki among Others.

Twin sisters drown in Song LGA, Adamawa

Tragedy struck in Golantabal village, Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State, as two 13-year-old twin sisters drowned while swimming in a pond on Saturday.

Source from the Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the incident to Zagazola Makama on Sunday.

According to the sources, the twin sisters, Hassana and Hussaina Garabiya, had gone to the farm earlier in the day and stopped by a pond to swim on their way back home around 2:30 p.m.

The sources said a distress call was received at about 3:50 p.m., prompting a swift response by the police.
The DPO, along with officers, visited the scene and coordinated efforts with local divers, who successfully recovered the bodies of the two girls.

The corpses were conveyed to the Cottage Hospital in Song, where they were deposited at the morgue for autopsy.

The police expressed condolences to the family and urged parents and guardians to caution their children against swimming in open water bodies, especially during the rainy season.

Two young farmers found dead in Taraba community

Tension has gripped Bandawa-Kota community in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State following the discovery of the lifeless bodies of two young men in a nearby bush.

Zagazola Makama report that the deceased, identified as Monday Samuel and Kawu Rabo, reportedly left their homes on Friday, June 27, to work on their farm but never returned.

Worried by their disappearance, family members and youths from the community launched a search on Saturday morning. Their bodies were eventually found in the bush, raising concerns of suspected foul play.

The incident has sparked outrage in the area, with residents calling for justice and demanding swift action to apprehend those behind the killings.

The corpses of the victims were recovered by the police and documented before being released to the families for burial, in accordance with local customs.

Efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the culprits.

Troops repel armed herdsmen attack on farmers in Benue

Farmers and residents along the Daudu–Makurdi Expressway in Benue State were thrown into panic on Saturday following an attempted attack by armed herdsmen at Atson Village.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident, which occurred at about 3:18 p.m., led to chaos as people fled in different directions some towards Agan Toll Gate and others toward Gbajimba Road after reports emerged that armed herders were invading farms and destroying crops.

The sources said the attackers were heavily armed and had begun chasing farmers from their farmlands when security surveillance teams patrolling the area intervened.

On sighting the troops, the armed herdsmen reportedly fled into the bush.

Calm has since been restored to the affected area, and a joint patrol by security operatives is ongoing to ensure the safety of lives and property and to prevent a recurrence.
