Borno: Troops battling ISWAP in Lake Chad assured of reinforcement of equipment

The Force Commander MultiNational Joint Task Force, MNJTF, Major General Ibrahim Khalifah has assured troops battling ISWAP elements at the fringes of Lake Chad in northern Borno of reinforcement of modern equipment for the smooth running of their operations.
He gave the assistance during the visit to troops in the frontline and also assured troops of good by all out against the insurgent criminal elements crossing the area.
General Khalifah reassured the troops that “MNJTF HQ will reinforce their operational capacities with equipment and other essential materials, which will improve surveillance and tactical maneuvers in the fields.”
He reminded troops across Lake Chad those operations remain the best test of their fighting spirit needed for an intact warfare.
“To become real fighters in this kind of warfare, you need good training and physical skills are essential elements in the totality of the life of the soldier and I believe you are all equipped with such skills desired of a soldier. We will do our part also by providing you with the equipment you need and necessary reinforcement to continue to boost your fighting spirit.” He said.
In continuation of his familiarization and operational tour of troops’ locations, the Force Commander MNJTF, Major General Ibrahim Khalifah visited Forward Operating Bases at Mallam FATORI and Headquarters 5 Brigade at Damasak in Sector 3 respectively, on Thursday.
The visit according to a release by the spokesman of the MNJTF, Col Mohammed Dole was aimed at getting first-hand information and current reality of the situation in the field.

The force commander was accompanied by some Staff Officers from and Commander MNJTF Sector 3, Brig Gen GM Mutkut.
General Kalifa commended the conduct and content of the briefings which covered operational activities, achievements and challenges of both Mallam Fatori and HQ 5 Brigade Damasak.
“It is noteworthy that these formation and units have significantly and progressively won several tactical victories against the BHT/ISWAP insurgents in their previous encounters, thus paving the way for the resettlement and relocation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and refugees to their ancestral homes” General Khalifah said
During his address to the troops, General Khalifah congratulated the troops for their operational successes by dislodging their camps and denying the terrorists freedom of action within their areas of operations.
The force commander reiterated his call to the troops on the misuse of social media which does more harm than good and can also be a source of intelligence on the activities and movements of the troops to terrorists.
He commended the troops on the conduct of discipline and display of determination by the troops to fight Boko Haram terrorists.
Kalifah however, urged the troops to remain on high alert and be cautious so that they can swiftly end the madness of the terrorists and return safely home to their families.
