NSCDC personnel open fire, injure three during attempted arrest in Bauchi

Three persons were injured after personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) opened fire during an attempted arrest in Tudun Wada village, Liman-Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on May 21, 2025, when the NSCDC patrol team from Alkaleri LGA went to effect an arrest, leading to a confrontation with residents of the community.

Two victims, Hamza Sarkin Aska, and Jibrin Adamu, both of Tudun Wada village, sustained gunshot wounds on their left and right legs respectively. A 12-year-old Almajiri, Umar Rabiu, from Yola Doka village, also sustained bruises on his right leg.

Security operatives promptly responded, evacuating the injured victims to General Hospital Yuguda for medical attention. Hamza Sarkin Aska and Jibrin Adamu were admitted and are responding to treatment, while Umar Rabiu was treated and discharged.

The sources said that the Bauchi state police command has launched an investigation following the shooting incident.
