NSCDC says 2 Officers killed by Bandits in Zamfara

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps on Saturday said men of the command in Zamfara state, northwest Nigeria have lost two officers to bandits attack.

A statement from DSC Ikor Oche said, “on the 28th October 2021 at about 12:00 hours , a group of armed bandits invaded a location at Shinkafi/ Kaura Namoda Road Zamfara State where about five of our Officers were on a Joint Task Force Operations.

“In that encounter two (2) of the officers of NSCDC Zamfara State Command were killed by the bandits after a prolonged gun battle while scores of the bandits were neutralized by the officers.

“It is unfortunate that we lost these brave and gallant officers. The corps however is poised to carry out her duties and support the Government of Zamfara State in combating crimes and banditry which has been operating in the state.

“We are saddened however by reports from mischief makers who are painting the story otherwise, and therefore call on the general public to disregard these mischief makers. While we condole with the families that lost these two gallant officers in the line of duties, We urge Nigerians to continue to pray for the victory over bandits in the northwest and other criminalities in the region.”
