Ogun Police Arrest Robbery Suspect Over Alleged Impersonation and Attempted Disarmament of Soldier

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a robbery suspect for alleged armed robbery, impersonation, and attempted disarmament of a military personnel along the Lusada Toll Gate axis.
According to a source, the incident occurred on 19 June 2026 at about 1730hrs, when a soldier, L/Cpl Fahad Nasir of the 192 Battalion, Owode, was alerted by a good Samaritan that six hoodlums on three unregistered motorcycles, wearing military caps, were attacking three civilians and dispossessing them of their mobile phones.
The victims were identified as Adedayo Akinpelu, Adeshina Habeeb, and Popoola Olawale, who were allegedly robbed of an iPhone 13 valued at N400,000 and an iPhone XR valued at N230,000.
The soldier reportedly moved to the scene in his military uniform and armed with a rifle, where he was allegedly attacked by the suspects, who attempted to disarm him. In the ensuing confrontation, the soldier shot one of the suspects, identified as Temilade Oluwaseun, in the leg, while others fled with the stolen items.
The injured suspect was subsequently taken to Pure Hospital for medical treatment.
The Command said preliminary investigation is ongoing, adding that the suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Abeokuta, upon completion of preliminary inquiry.
