Three killed, two injured in Kwara reprisal attack on mining camp

Three persons were killed and two others injured when suspected hoodlums attacked a Fulani settlement in Gaa Fulani near Bankole, Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Zagazola Makama learnt that the attack, which occurred around 8:00 p.m. on May 27, is believed to be a reprisal following the killing of one Shabba Ndabata, a Nupe man, at Ndabata mining site earlier in the day.

Eyewitnesses said the assailants stormed the camp, shooting sporadically and setting parts of the settlement ablaze.

In the ensuing violence, one Gambo Abubakar was reportedly burnt alive, while another victim, identified as Yabo, was shot dead. Two others, Abubakar Mohammad and Abubakar Tambaya, sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to Oke-Ode Maternity Hospital for treatment.

In response to the incident, a stakeholders’ peace meeting was held in the community involving Fulani and Nupe leaders to forestall further violence.

Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the attackers, while security operatives have intensified surveillance to prevent a breakdown of law and order in the area.

Fulani–native clash claims 2 lives, razes 43 houses in Plateau

A violent communal clash between suspected Fulani youths and native residents in Horop District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, has left two persons dead and over 43 houses set ablaze.

Zagazola Makama gathered that the violence, which erupted in the early hours of Tuesday, began when suspected Fulani youths launched an attack on Mbor village, Kopmur Ward, at about 4:20 a.m., razing 25 houses and sparking a reprisal from native youths.

In the reprisal, eight houses belonging to Fulani residents were reportedly burnt along with a Peugeot vehicle.

The crisis escalated to Nina village, where suspected Fulani assailants killed one Matthew Yamusa, 40, and torched 10 additional houses in the Ngulot area of Horop District.

A Fulani man identified as Jibrin SNU was also killed by youths suspected to be from the native community in a retaliatory attack.

On receiving the distress report, the Nigerian Army troops, police and vigilantes to the scene.
The security forces engaged and repelled the attackers, while corpses were photographed and evacuated.

Also the Police authorities in Plateau have deployed additional tactical teams to the general area to restore calm and ensure the arrest of the perpetrators.

127 villagers abducted, six killed in Kebbi bandit attack

At least 127 persons have been abducted and six others killed following a bandit attack on Danmuntari and Ali villages in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Zagazola Makama understands that the attack, which occurred on May 27 at about 9 a.m., was reportedly carried out by gunmen suspected to be armed bandits who stormed the villages near the border with Zamfara State.

The sources confirmed the identities of those killed as: Malam Mudaha, Al’ameen Mohammed, Safwan Abubakar, Tanko Mohammed, Ibrahim Garba, Inno Mudaha (female).

The victims’ corpses were recovered and later released to their families for burial after undergoing autopsy at the General Hospital, Wasagu.

Police sources said that due to the nature of the terrain, response was delayed but a combined troops comprising the Army, Police Tactical Unit, and local vigilantes has now been deployed for rescue operations.
