The Nigerian Police Force(NPF), FCT Command has arrested a suspected “One Chance” robber who allegedly posed as a military officer to dispossess a female passenger of her valuables in Abuja.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect, identified as Alfa John, a resident of Ado by Science School, Nasarawa State, was apprehended after a victim reported the incident to the police.

The sources said that the incident occurred on February 25, 2025, at about 11:00 p.m. when she boarded a commercial Toyota Corolla (ash in color, Reg. No. LKJ 467 TW) at Wuse 2, heading to Gwarinpa.

“Instead of taking her to her destination, the driver diverted to a secluded area along Dawaki, where he allegedly threatened to kill her before robbing her of an iPhone 12 Pro Max. After the robbery, the suspect falsely claimed to be a military officer before abandoning the victim and speeding off,”said the sources.

However, further investigations revealed that the stolen phone was later sold to one Nasir Abdullahi, a resident of AYA Mosque, Abuja.

Police operatives tracked down and arrested the suspect, recovering the phone along with a Motorola Walkie-Talkie in his possession.

Confirming the arrest, a senior police officer said the suspect was in custody and undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), while further investigations were ongoing.

“The arrest is part of the police’s intensified efforts to crack down on ‘One Chance’ robbery syndicates operating in the FCT. We urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies,” the officer stated.
