Resettlement: Borno State Government Commissions 300 Housing Units

The Borno State Government’s initiative to build and commission 300 housing units in Gajibo Town to resettle Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) is a significant step towards addressing the challenges of displacement caused by insurgency.
Borno State Deputy Governor H.E Umar Usman Kadafur stated this today in an address he delivers during the commissioning of 300 Housing Units and resettlement of Gajibo Community in Gajibo Town Dikwa Local Government Area.
The deputy said this effort demonstrates a commitment to improving the living conditions and stability of affected communities and It also aligns with broader goals of rehabilitation and sustainable development in the state.
The Deputy Governor of Borno State emphasized that the government, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, is making comprehensive security arrangements to guarantee the safety of returnees.
He noted that 5 security vehicles and 15 motorcycles have been provided to enhance the mobility and effectiveness of security personnel in the region ,stressing that this measure underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring a secure environment for resettlement and rehabilitation efforts.
The Deputy Governor stated that the commissioning of the 300 housing units and the resettlement of the Gajibo Community is more than just the fulfillment of promises but it represents a crucial step in rebuilding lives and restoring hope to a community that has faced tremendous hardship.
This initiative highlights the government’s dedication to improving the well-being and resilience of its citizens that have shown resilience in the face of adversity.
The Deputy Governor announced that, beyond providing 300 houses, the Borno State Government is implementing additional initiatives to deliver essential services such as water, healthcare, education, and economic opportunities.
These efforts he said is aim to ensure that every individual in the local government area has access to fundamental amenities, fostering sustainable development and improving the quality of life for residents.
The Deputy Governor while commissioning the 300 houses , handed over allocation letters, Cash of 50,000 each to 396 head of households, 25,000 each to 473 housewives, 25 kg of rice, 25 kg of Maize, Mattresses, leather mats, Mosquito nets, water container, Wrappers and Male clothing.
HE Dr Usman Umar Kadafur while at the 24 Task Force Brigade, was received by Brigadier General Ezekiel Bawa Barkins where he presented 5 security vehicles and 15 motocycles to enhance security operations in the area and thank the Nigeria Army for supporting the administration of Governor Babagana Umar Zulum resettlement process .
The Honourable Commissioner Ministry of reconstruction rehabilitation and resettlement (MRRR) Arch Isa Haladu said three hundred houses were built in line with the durable solutions strategy to build the resilience of our people, and in addition the ministry has renovated about one hundred private houses here in Gajibo for the owners to occupy.
The Executive Chairman of Dikwa Local Government, Alhaji Rawagana Modu in his welcome address commended the state governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum for all the projects initiated in the local government in the area of ,agriculture, healthcare, education and provision of relief materials to flood victims.
In a vote of thanks, by the Member representing Dikwa in the State House of Assembly Hon Mohammed zakariya Dikwa urged the people of Dikwa to redouble efforts in irrigation farming and business. While thanking the state Governor and his Deputy for their unflinching support to the area.
The deputy governor and his entourage were later at the Emir’s Palace to pay a homage where the Emir commended the effort of the Borno State Government in the provision of basic amenities to the people.
The occasion was attended by Secretary to the state Government Hon Bukar Tijjani,His Royal Highness, Shehu Ibrahim ibn Umar Ibrahim El-Kanemi, CFR the Shehu of Dikwa, House of Assembly Members from Dikwa and Biu, Commissioners for Local Government and Emirates Affairs and that of MRRR, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Permanent Secretaries of RRR and that of Information and Internal Security and top government officials.

Gunmen kill eight in Nasarawa village attack

At least eight persons have been confirmed dead following an armed attack on Nindama village in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Sources said that the attack occurred in the early hours of Oct. 10.
The sources said that unknown gunmen invaded the village around 3:30 a.m., shooting sporadically and killing eight residents.
“Two other persons sustained critical injuries and are currently receiving treatment, while six others are still missing,” the sources said.
He said that at about 3:30 p.m., a combined team of security agencies including army, police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) visited the scene along with the Executive Chairman of Kokona LGA, Hon. Agbawu M. Agbawu.
According to the sources, the corpses have been evacuated to the mortuary, while efforts are ongoing to locate the missing persons and apprehend the attackers.
Preliminary investigation, sources said, indicated that the attack may have been connected to a lingering land dispute in the area.
The security forces assured residents of intensified security patrols and urged anyone with useful information to assist the ongoing investigation.

Bandit abduct road construction worker in Katsina as security forces intensify search and rescue

A search-and-rescue operation has been launched to secure the release of a road construction worker abducted by gunmen in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Zagazola learnt that the incident occurred at about 7:14 p.m. on Thursday along the Kunduru–Kadanya feeder road, when unknown assailants reportedly laid an ambush and kidnapped one Kabiru Bature, a 35-year-old driver attached to Stantech Road Construction Company.
The sources said that security forces were immediately mobilised to the area, blocked all potential escape routes, and initiated a cordon-and-search operation aimed at rescuing the victim and apprehending the perpetrators.
The troops have been deployed to track the movements of the kidnappers, believed to have fled into the surrounding forest.
Efforts were ongoing as of the time of filing this report to rescue the victim safely and bring the abductors to justice.

Troops repel Boko Haram attack in Konduga

The Troops of Operation HADIN KAI , in collaboration with police tactical teams and local hunters, have repelled a Boko Haram/ISWAP attack on Goni Dinari village in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
Sources said the attack occurred at about 5:56 a.m. on Friday when suspected Boko Haram terrorists invaded the village and set some houses ablaze.
The troops immediately alerted, leading to a swift joint response by troops, police tactical teams, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters.
“The attack was successfully repelled and normalcy has since been restored to the area,”sources said.
Troops had deployed to the village for confidence-building patrols, while monitoring and surveillance operations continued.
