Troops of the Nigerian Army operating under Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY) have arrested four suspected terrorist collaborators during a cordon-and-search operation in Zamfara State.

Military sources disclosed that the operation was carried out at about 2:00 a.m. on June 20 in Birnin Magaji Town, Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of the state.

According to the sources, troops of the 1 Brigade, supported by a technical support team from Operation Fansan Yamma, conducted the raid based on intelligence reports aimed at disrupting terrorist support networks in the area.

During the operation, four suspects were apprehended over allegations that they served as informants and collaborators for a notorious terrorist kingpin known as Gwaska Dan Karami.

The suspects were accused of providing intelligence and other forms of support to the criminal network, thereby aiding terrorist activities within the region.

Military authorities said the arrested individuals had been taken into custody and were currently being held at the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre (JIFC) of Operation Fansan Yamma for further investigation and necessary action.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security forces to dismantle terrorist cells, disrupt intelligence networks and strengthen security across Zamfara and other states affected by banditry and terrorism.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the extent of the suspects’ involvement and identify other members of the network.
