Troops Engage Armed Bandits in Fierce Gun Battle Near Mada, Zamfara

Armed bandits launched another attack on Mada, Gusau LGA of Zamfara State, shortly after the Isha prayer on Monday night. However, security forces swiftly engaged them in a fierce gun battle.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the bandits, believed to have emerged from the surrounding forest, attempted to advance on the Mada community but were intercepted by security personnel.
Heavy gunfire was reported in the eastern part of Mada as troops battled the attackers.
As of the time of reporting, the situation remains tense, with security forces working to repel the assailants.
Troops Neutralize Suspected Collaborator Caught with Bandits in Zamfara

The troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have neutralized a suspected bandit collaborator known as Dama Dandan Boyi during an operation in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that Dama, a Hausa man who previously worked as a security guard at a cotton processing company in Tsafe, later became involved with Fulani armed groups. He was reportedly married to four wives.
On the night of March 17, security forces encountered Dama and a group of suspected bandits under a mango tree in the outskirts of Tsafe.
Upon sighting the operatives, the armed Fulani men fled on a motorcycle, leaving Dama behind. He was shot and killed on the spot.
Dama was a native of Makera, a community in Tsafe Local Government Area. Authorities believe he had been providing support to criminal elements operating in the region.

Police Arrest Teacher for Murder of 14-Year-Old Almajiri in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a teacher, Mal Musa Wada, for the gruesome killing of a 14-year-old Almajiri, Bashir Adamu, whose body was found mutilated in Jikas-Dabaja Village, Gwaram Local Government Area.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the he incident was first reported on March 12, 2025, when officers at Gwaram Division discovered that the victim had been murdered, with his head and private parts severed.
After thorough investigations, Mal Musa Wada, 35, was arrested on March 18.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime and led detectives to the location where he had buried the victim’s severed body parts.
The Police sources have assured the public that the suspect will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of the investigation.

FCT Police Rescue Kidnapped Burkina Faso National, Arrest Three Suspects

The Nigerian Police Force, FCT Command has rescued a kidnapped victim, Sambo Umar Labibo, a Burkina Faso national, and arrested three suspects linked to his abduction.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the victim had been kidnapped on Friday, March 14, 2025, and the abductors had been demanding ransom for his release.
The sources said that a team of detectives, led by an ASP, traced the suspects to the Durumi IDP Camp, where negotiations were set up under the guise of delivering a ₦1 million ransom at Conoil Filling Station, Area 1.
The operation led to the arrest of three suspects: Ibrahim Umar, Hamza Buba, and Muktar Mohammed, all residents of the IDP camp.
Following their arrest, the suspects directed the police to the hideout where the victim was being held. Sambo Umar Labibo was successfully rescued, though he sustained facial injuries.
Sources from the FCT Police Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing to apprehend any other accomplices.

Two University Students Kidnapped in Katsina as Police Launch Rescue Operation

Armed bandits have kidnapped two students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) in Katsina State during an attack in the early hours of Tuesday.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the assailants stormed the Graveyard Quarters along Tsaskiya Road in Dutsin-Ma town around 2:40 a.m. and abducted the students, whose identities are yet to be confirmed.
Upon receiving the distress call, security forces mobilized to block possible escape routes and rescue the victims. However, the operation was not immediately successful as the bandits had already fled to an unknown location.
The security agencies have assured that a search-and-rescue mission is ongoing to track down the kidnappers and secure the students’ safe release.
