Troops repel Boko Haram/ISWAP ambush in Borno, kill 10, recover arms

Troops of Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, have repelled an ambush by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Borno State, killing 10 insurgents and recovering a cache of arms and equipment.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday during ongoing Operation Desert Sanity V/Siege Operations.
The source said troops of Sector 1, in conjunction with elements of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, came under attack by terrorists who were in an ambush position with a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) and small arms fire.
“The troops, who were on high alert, responded with heavy volume of fire and successfully repelled the ambush.
“The attack was followed by the detonation of an IED on the troops, but their swift response forced the terrorists to withdraw in disarray, with several of them killed and others sustaining gunshot wounds,” the source said.
He added that a reinforcement team from Ngoshe swiftly moved to cut off the terrorists’ withdrawal routes along the foothills of the Mandara Mountains and successfully ambushed the retreating fighters.
“Troops mounted a hot pursuit on the remnants who managed to escape and exploited the general area towards the withdrawal routes, recovering several bodies and equipment,” he said.
The source said 10 terrorists were neutralised during the encounter, including two senior leaders identified as Basulhu, a key commander, and his second-in-command, Ubaida.
Items recovered from the terrorists include three AK-47 rifles, one pump-action gun, five motorcycles, two hand grenades, two Baofeng radios, 12 AK-47 magazines, 197 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, one RPG charger, two detonating cords, 13 nine-volt batteries, an iron bar, a bandolier and a camel bag.
The source said the general security situation in the area remained relatively calm but fluid, adding that troops continued to maintain maximum alertness.

Farmers, herders clash over alleged farm encroachment in Kaduna

Security forces have contained a clash between farmers and herders over an alleged attempt to encroach on farmland at Mahauta Village in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Zagazola Makama reports that the incident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, when troops of Sector 7, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), deployed at Manchok, responded to a report of the confrontation.
The troops moved to the area and succeeded in containing the situation before it could escalate further.
Four persons, comprising two herders and two farmers, were found to have sustained injuries during the confrontation.
The injured victims were evacuated to the Primary Health Care Centre in Manchok for treatment.
Following the incident, the Ardo of Dakachi and the respective youth leaders of the communities were apprehended and detained for questioning as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the clash.
Security forces are maintaining presence in the area to prevent further escalation and restore calm between the affected communities.

Two passengers sustained gunshot injuries while another person was killed after a commercial vehicle came under attack at Rakwok Village along the Kurra Falls road in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Zagazola Makama reports that the incident occurred at about 8:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, when troops of Sector 4, Sub-Sector 41, Gashish, responded to a report of an attack on a commercial vehicle conveying two passengers.
The vehicle was reportedly attacked by suspected fulani bandits members while travelling along the route.
Upon arrival at the scene, troops found the two passengers, identified as 65-year-old Ali Makawu and 42-year-old Hannatu Samson, with gunshot wounds.
The attackers had fled the area before the arrival of the troops.
During a search of the surrounding area, the troops discovered the body of a man identified as Henry inside a building within the vicinity.
Preliminary findings indicated that Henry may have been hit by a stray bullet during the attack.
The injured passengers and the body of the deceased were evacuated to the General Hospital, Barkin Ladi.
Troops are currently dominating the Rakwok area and conducting operations aimed at tracking down the perpetrators, preventing further attacks and restoring normalcy along the route.

Terrorists rustle 120 cattle, kill two herders in Wase, Plateau

Terrorists have reportedly rustled about 120 cattle and killed two herders at an isolated Fulani settlement on the outskirts of Gimbi Town in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 7:00 a.m. on Sept. 21, 2026, prompting troops of Sector 2, Operation Hakorin Damisa (OPEP), Wase, to respond to the report.
According to military sources, the troops arrived at the location and discovered that the attackers had already fled with the rustled cattle.
No contact was established with the attackers as troops commenced search operations and efforts to track their movement.
The military has continued to search the surrounding areas in an effort to recover the stolen livestock and locate the perpetrators.
Further details on the identities of the deceased herders and the circumstances surrounding the attack were not immediately available.
