Yobe Community Celebrates Buhari over Construction of Air Strip

The people of Wachakal Community in Yobe state have celebrated Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, over the construction of an air strip at Wachakal Village in the state. 

A statement Signed by Mamman Mohammed, DG, Press and Media Affairs to governor Buni said  the people went into wild jubilation thanking the President at the ground breaking ceremony of the project on Thursday.

The Senate President, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni and the minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika, attended the momentous ceremony. 

The airport which was approved in August this year by the Federal government is to be completed within 12 months.

Governor Buni Commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the project saying it will generate employment opportunities and enhance economic development of the state.

“Yobe state has been given a sense of recognition by the Buhari administration with many interventions more than any other administration since 1999.”the governor observed

Governor Buni also noted that the federal government approved the Damaturu regional water project and Fika/Gadaka water transfer project with work now progressing.

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, urged the contractors handling the project to execute the project in accordance with the contractual agreement, stressing that they will be closely monitored.

He said “there must be value for money for contracts awarded by this administration, to serve the people effectively.”

The Senate President also commended Governor Buni for completing the Yobe International Cargo airport, Damaturu.

Similarly, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, commended the Buhari administration for its zeal and determination in providing infrastructure to every part of Nigeria.

Nine Injured in Kwali Farmers–Herders Clash

Nine persons sustained machete injuries in a clash between Bassa farmers and Fulani herders in Gomoni Village, Kwali Area Council of the FCT.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the fight, which broke out on Aug. 9 at about 3:30 p.m., followed alleged destruction of melon and maize farms belonging to the Bassa community by cattle.

It was gathered that the Nigeria army troops
along with joint team of operatives, and vigilantes were deployed to the scene following a distress call.

Six Bassa and three Fulani victims with varying degrees of machete cuts were taken to Rhema Foundation Hospital, Kwali, for treatment.

Authorities confirmed that the situation had been brought under control and normalcy restored, while investigation was ongoing.

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday attended the wedding fatiha of Aisha, daughter of Shehu Aliyu, an Executive Director with First Bank of Nigeria, and Muhammad Jalal, son of former Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, Talban Minna, at the National Mosque, Abuja.

The solemnisation, led by the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Dr. Muhammad Kabir Adam, alongside other Imams, featured prayers for the couple’s blessings.

Vice President Shettima stood in for the bride, while Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu represented the groom, culminating in the presentation of the dowry and the formal tying of the marital knot.

The event was graced by prominent dignitaries, including former Vice President Namadi Sambo, former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi, former Minister of Special Duties Kabiru Turaki, Katsina State Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe, the Emir of Borgu, Niger State, Muhammad Sani Dantoro among many others.

Unidentified visitor dies suddenly at Niger Government House Lodge

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the sudden death of an unidentified man who collapsed and died at Government House Lodge, Minna. Zagazola learnt that the incident occurred on Friday, Aug. 2, 2025.

Sources said that the deceased had visited House No. 8, Government House Lodge, in an attempt to see Mr. Sammy, Chairman of Niger Foods. However, upon meeting his host’s absence, the man suddenly took ill.

Medical doctors were reportedly contacted from the IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna, for urgent attention. Unfortunately, by the time the doctor arrived, the man had already passed away.

Following the report, a team of police operatives from GRA Division visited the scene. The body was photographed and evacuated to the IBB Specialist Hospital Mortuary for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
