Yobe: Lawan holds a meeting with security agencies over violence in Gashua

In his effort to find solutions to prevent such a tragic incident from happening again, The president of the 9th senate, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, PhD, GCON,Sardaunan Bade, Yobe North Senatorial District, held a meeting today with the head of security agencies in Yobe North to address the recent killing of three civilians by soldiers last week.

The meeting, held at his residence in Gashua, sought to find solutions to prevent such a tragic incident from happening again.

During the meeting, I expressed deep concern over the incident and emphasized the need for the military to adhere to the rules of engagement and respect human rights.

“I stressed the importance of collaboration between security agencies and the local communities in ensuring the safety and security of the people in Yobe North.

The heads of the security agencies have briefed me on the current situation in my senatorial district and assured me that they will thoroughly investigate the incident and take appropriate action against those responsible. They also pledged to work closely with the local community to build trust and improve communication to avoid further misunderstandings that could lead to conflict.

“Consequently, I urged the security agencies to be transparent in their investigation and to hold perpetrators accountable for their actions.

Senator Ahmad Lawan also called for increased efforts to address the root causes of conflicts in Yobe North and to promote dialogue and reconciliation among all stakeholders.

Ifelodun LG imposes 24 hour curfew across Oro-Ago District for clearance operation

A 24 hour curfew has been imposed on the entire Oro- ago District of Ifelodun council Area, Chairman Abdulrasheed Yusuf said in a statement recently.

The curfew which took effect from 6 am on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, was imposed in a coordinated effort by the council in conjunction with security agencies to put terrorists in disarray, take them out by combing the area and protecting lives and property of residents.

The statement signed by Abdulquadri Jimba who is the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Ifelodun council area noted that “Within this period, there will be no human or vehicular traffic in the entire district.

“This is in support of the ongoing security clearance operation in the area. Further reviews of this measure will be communicated,” the statement noted.
