Yobe NLC Chairman calls for prayers for Comrade Joe Ajaero over alleged terror financing, invitation by police

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Yobe state council, Comrade Mukhtar Tarbutu, has called on members and affiliates of the union to pray for the release of the National President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, who was recently invited by the Nigerian Police Force.
The chairman made the peal on Thursday in Damaturu, the state capital, while addressing a gathering of NLC members and affiliates in the state.
Tarbutu revealed that the union had received a directive from the national headquarters to mobilize members to police headquarters in their respective states in solidarity with Ajaero.
However, in Yobe State, the NLC leadership decided to adopt a spiritual approach by organizing prayers for Ajearo’s safe return. He expressed confidence that Allah would intervene and ensure the safety of the NLC president.
“In addition to the prayers, Tarbutu also announced the formation of a technical committee to review the implementation of the $70,000 minimum wage in the state.
According to him, the committee has completed its work and submitted its recommendations to the state government.
He commended the committee for its efforts and expressed hope that the government would engage with the union on the issue.

A 20-year-old man, Haruna Haruna of Kwata Village, Warji Local Government Area, Bauchi State, has reportedly died following a violent altercation during a naming ceremony on 2 December 2025.
Zagazola understands that a misunderstanding among some youths at the ceremony escalated into a physical fight, leaving the victim in a comatose state.
He was rushed to General Hospital, Warji, but later died while receiving medical attention.
Police operatives have arrested one Gambo Yobe, 20, in connection with the incident.

Mob attacked Customs officers, set vehicle ablaze at Maiadua border in Katsina

Officers of the Nigerian Customs Service were attacked by an angry mob at Koza village, Maiadua border, Katsina State, following a pursuit of a suspected smuggling vehicle.
Zagazola Makama report that the incident occurred at about 2130 hours on 3 December 2025 when Customs officers stationed at the Kozacheckpoint attempted to intercept a Pathfinder model jeep en route from Daura to Kongolam Border.
The unidentified driver reportedly tried to evade arrest, driving into Koza village.
In reaction, some residents barricaded the highway and set ablaze a Golf 3 vehicle belonging to the Customs officers.
Patrol teams were mobilized to the scene to rescue the officers and restore order.

Bandits ambush security team along Kuzuntu grazing reserve in Kaduna, Policeman killed

A combined security team was ambushed by armed men along the Kuzuntu axis of Anchau, Kubau Local Government Area, resulting in the death of a policeman and injuries to others.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that at about 1455 hours on 3 December 2025, a team of security forces comprising of Nigerian Army, police, KADVS operatives, and local vigilantes on assignment at the government grazing reserve in Kuzuntu.
The team was on a request from the Kubau Local Government Council Chairman to accompany staff of an Agro Industry and local officials to take measurements of the grazing area.
The exercise was successfully completed; however, on their return, the team was ambushed by armed men suspected to be bandits.
Police Constable Sunday Ishaya was fatally shot, while several military personnel sustained injuries. The victims were rushed to a hospital for medical attention, where PC Ishaya was certified dead, and the injured are responding to treatment.
The deceased was deposited at General Hospital, Ikara.
