Federal Commissioner PCC donates Carpentry, Welding Tools to Skill Aquisitition Centre in Borno

By: Our ReporterThe Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission Borno State, Alhaji Yusuf Adamu on Tuesday presented carpentry and welding equipment to support the state government in fighting unemployment as well as support the government in curbing the activities of restive youths particularly in Biu local government area of the state.

Speaking at a brief ceremony in Government House Maiduguri, Alhaji Yusuf Adamu toid the deputy governor, Umar Usman Kadafur that he was move by the spirited efforts of the Borno state governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum to ensure that restive youths are economically empowered in the state.

According to him, while he took the olive branch to accompany the governor to Biu local government recently, he felt the need to as part of the government and stakeholder in Biu local government to also inspire others to show support by taking a step that will encourage the government as a way of showing appreciation to all that the government has been doing to the people of Borno state and especially the people of Biu local government area.

“While we are in the entourage of the governor, I and other stakeholders have deliberated on how we can show appreciation to our governor who has been working tirelessly to ensure that our people gets the best from his administration in Borno. The number of projects executed in Biu local government alone by the Zulum administration is too numerous to mention.

“We have seen the restiveness of our youths and this becomes a woke up call for all of us. As stakeholders in Biu, we are duty bound to ensure that we hold our governor’s hands up. This is the only way that we can show appreciation. This is also the very reason for our coming as representative of our people to support with these token as back up for the skill aquisitition program of the Borno state government in Biu local government.” Alhaji Yusuf Adamu said.

While making remarks, the Borno state deputy governor, Umar Usman Kadafur commended the Federal Commissioner for his foresight and focus in demonstrating unique leadership and support particularly at this time when the Borno state government is calling on well meaning citizens to show love and support so as to ensure the people fight the challenges bedeviling the state.

“I must say that this support has come at the time it is needed. The story of Borno state is a known facts that history may recall on different phases of challenges and the resilliance of the people. As government we are doing the best we can to ensure that our people are back on their feet. My principal has been a dogeged fighter and he has been on his toes day and night to see that the people are well taken care of.

“This support will go along way in cushioning some of the challenges the Borno state governor is trying to bring down from all sides. I believe that if we have people with such spirit and with others who will show such support then I would say that our people have a hope. We commend you as a government and shall continue to ensure that our partnership works for the development of Borno state and our people.” The deputy governor said.

Nine Injured in Kwali Farmers–Herders Clash

Nine persons sustained machete injuries in a clash between Bassa farmers and Fulani herders in Gomoni Village, Kwali Area Council of the FCT.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the fight, which broke out on Aug. 9 at about 3:30 p.m., followed alleged destruction of melon and maize farms belonging to the Bassa community by cattle.

It was gathered that the Nigeria army troops
along with joint team of operatives, and vigilantes were deployed to the scene following a distress call.

Six Bassa and three Fulani victims with varying degrees of machete cuts were taken to Rhema Foundation Hospital, Kwali, for treatment.

Authorities confirmed that the situation had been brought under control and normalcy restored, while investigation was ongoing.

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday attended the wedding fatiha of Aisha, daughter of Shehu Aliyu, an Executive Director with First Bank of Nigeria, and Muhammad Jalal, son of former Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, Talban Minna, at the National Mosque, Abuja.

The solemnisation, led by the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Dr. Muhammad Kabir Adam, alongside other Imams, featured prayers for the couple’s blessings.

Vice President Shettima stood in for the bride, while Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu represented the groom, culminating in the presentation of the dowry and the formal tying of the marital knot.

The event was graced by prominent dignitaries, including former Vice President Namadi Sambo, former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi, former Minister of Special Duties Kabiru Turaki, Katsina State Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe, the Emir of Borgu, Niger State, Muhammad Sani Dantoro among many others.

Unidentified visitor dies suddenly at Niger Government House Lodge

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the sudden death of an unidentified man who collapsed and died at Government House Lodge, Minna. Zagazola learnt that the incident occurred on Friday, Aug. 2, 2025.

Sources said that the deceased had visited House No. 8, Government House Lodge, in an attempt to see Mr. Sammy, Chairman of Niger Foods. However, upon meeting his host’s absence, the man suddenly took ill.

Medical doctors were reportedly contacted from the IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna, for urgent attention. Unfortunately, by the time the doctor arrived, the man had already passed away.

Following the report, a team of police operatives from GRA Division visited the scene. The body was photographed and evacuated to the IBB Specialist Hospital Mortuary for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
