Marte: Zulum approves 54 patrol vehicles, motorcycles for military operations

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved 54 patrol vehicles and motorcycles for military to enhance their operational capabilities in the fight against insurgency in New Marte located in the northern part of the state.
Zulum announced the approval on Thursday during a visit to New Marte to assess the security situation and make proper arrangements for the resettlement of some communities.

Zulum noted that the approval comprises 4 Buffalo Toyota Pick-up, 50 operational motorcycles and surveillance facilities.
The governor commended the military for their relentless efforts in restoring peace and stability to the area. He praised the troops for their sacrifices and dedication, noting that their efforts have paved the way for the gradual return of normalcy in the region.
Returning from Marte, Zulum stopped over in Dikwa to assess the construction of the High Islamic College, Dikwa, General Hospital and semi-permanent shelters built for the return of displaced persons.
Zulum travelled to Marte alongside members of the House of Assembly representing Marte, Engr Gambomi Maina, and of Kukawa, Karta Maina Ma’aji Lawan.

Other members of the governor’s delegation include Commissioners of Information and Internal Security, Prof Usman Tar, Local Government and Emirates Affairs, Sugun Mai Mele, Permanent Secretary, Government House, and Barrister Mustapha Ali Busuguma among other senior government officials.

Gunmen Kill Two NSCDC Officers, Cart Away Rifles in Abia

Gunmen have ambushed a patrol team of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Obiakpu Obuzor, Asa, Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, killing two personnel and making away with their rifles.
It was gathered that the attack occurred on February 25, 2025, at about 9:00 a.m.
Intelligence sources informed Zagazola Makama that the deceased officers, identified as AIC Mohammed Bello Bako and CCE Justice Anyamele, were part of a six-man patrol team securing oil pipelines when they were ambushed by unknown armed men.
The attackers reportedly seized the officers’ AK-47 rifles with breach numbers 47-02736 and KAM-04171 before fleeing the scene.
The bodies of the slain officers have since been buried, while efforts by the NSCDC to track the assailants and recover the stolen weapons have so far been unsuccessful.

Security operatives Recover 50 Rustled Sheep in Niger State

Security operatives in Niger State have recovered 50 rustled sheep following an attack by suspected livestock thieves on Dapo Village.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on March 14, 2025, around 4:00 a.m. when unidentified hoodlums stormed the village, stole the sheep, and loaded them into three vehicles.
Upon receiving a distress call at about 6:00 a.m., local vigilantes mobilized to track the rustlers. Two of the vehicles, a Toyota Hijet and a Toyota First Lady, were intercepted along the Yangalo-Nasko Road, while the third vehicle took an unknown route and escaped.
The drivers of the intercepted vehicles abandoned them and fled into the bush. The rustled sheep were recovered and handed over to Sarkin Dilale, Malam Abubakar Umar, for safekeeping before police reinforcements arrived.
However, before security operatives could take full control of the scene, an angry mob set both vehicles ablaze.

Troops Neutralize Notorious Kidnapper Abdullahi Snu a.k.a Honor in Nasarawa

A joint operation by the military in collaboration with the police has led to the neutralization of a notorious wanted kidnapper, Abdullahi Snu, also known as “Honor,” in Akwanga.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation, which took place on March 14, 2025, around 10:00 p.m., was based on credible intelligence that led security forces to the suspect’s location near Akwanga Central Mosque.
In an attempt to evade arrest, the suspect was shot dead, and an English pistol with 12 rounds of live ammunition was recovered from him. However, his accomplice managed to escape with bullet wounds.
The security agencies has assured the public that efforts are being intensified to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspect.
